Blueprint for Success

Central Unified has been part of the On Track Collaborative for the past two years.

Recently, those efforts contributed to the development of an updated board policy and administrative regulations on grading. Teachers across the district helped to shape a policy that captures and codifies the general principles that have been tested and practiced around the district. These efforts also align with the third iteration of their Academic Blueprint.

The intention of the updated policy is to ensure that grades assigned in all subject areas communicate the performance of students as accurately as they can. The policy guidance ensures grades are based on the performance of students.

Additionally, teachers curate the learning experiences in their classrooms, offering opportunities for students to demonstrate growth in their learning of a subject so that grades update and reflect their learning accurately.

As the teams enter into the third year of their participation in the On Track Collaborative, Central is looking to amplify the communication across their sites, sharing the best of their practices, and identifying opportunities to strengthen internal coherence in addition to developing a stronger and more aligned understanding of what students should learn and how we know when they have.
