Ed Partners Perspectives

Thank you, On Track Year 6!

On April 26th, a six year journey for six school districts across California came to a conclusion with a virtual spring convening celebrating the improvement efforts for 8th and 9th grade A-G On-Track students. The participating school districts included: Buttonwillow Union, Burbank Unified, Hilmar Unified, Livingston Union, Sanger Unified, and Ukiah Unified with teams including site superintendents, directors, school counselors, and middle and high school teachers. These districts previously invested five years of time, energy and effort and this additional year provided continued support for district teams continuing their systematic change.

With an eye toward sustainability, district improvement teams lifted up barriers that can prevent the work from moving forward and how to mitigate the challenges when faced with them along the way. Concluding the time together, individuals made both personal commitments within their roles on site and then collectively as a team, in how they would continue the implementation of their change ideas to scale with full sustainability with ultimately the adaptation to district norms for continued change.

County Office Partnerships & Sustainability

On April 16th the Ed Partners team was proud to present alongside El Dorado County Superintendent Ed Manansala at the Spring General Meeting in Santa Barbara. The presentation highlighted the creation of two El Dorado County-specific multi-year networks to build capacity, create coherence between COE supports and district needs, and improve student results. Vertical teams were created to improve student transitions from preschool/TK and third grade as well as 8th and 9th grade.

Early Math Education: Critical Issues in Policy & Practice

On Friday May 3rd, Steve Kellner, our Director of District Leadership & State Policy presented at Stanford University along with Cresta McIntosh, Associate Superintendent of Educational Services at Monterey Peninsula Unified. The P3CC Pilot districts (2020-2023) were part of a research study which focused on the quality and coherence of math instruction from preschool to third grade.
